Update on 2023-12-17: I no longer update these stats. They were a fun exercise but I’m no longer interested.

Some statistics about the whole vault (even the non-published part) for regular pages, excluding the Daily notes.

I’ve used consistent hashing to map tags to colors (see obsidian-metrics repo), so each tag is represented by the same color in all figures.

For the estimate of reading hours of my texts, I assume we read 238 words per minute (How many words do we read per minute? A review and meta-analysis of reading rate - ScienceDirect).

You can check the code here!

The motivation was to get refresh my Spark knowledge upon entering Seedtag.

I know what you wrote last week…

I don't really write this much. Or maybe I do

“Words added” does not really mean that I wrote something on the topic: maybe I just moved tags around.

Note for 2023-09-02: a run the jobs that computes these metrics manually and it expects a maximum time between runs of 7 days. It has not been the case lately, so this “last 7 days” is a diff of today state vs. zero… which is clearly wrong.

…and what you read/watched/listened to (“raw highlights”)

Over time

Weird events chronology:

  • 2023-04-30. Spike. I started also considering nested folders in the metrics.
  • 2023-05-28. Drop. I don’t operate directly on my vault, I copy the files over to run metrics on them. I realized that the previous copy was not being overwritten, so renamed/deleted files were not removed from the metrics. That explains the drop on this day.
  • 2023-08-05. I’m suspicious of the drop here, the same day that I start having some weird error in WSL.
